Population Artificats dating back over 200 thousand years, shows human activity since the early Stone Age. Now Swaziland has about 1.1 million inhabitants. The country is a monarchy headed by the King (referred to as "Ngwenyama", meaning "Lion") and his Queen Mother (Ndlovukazi or "Female Elephant"). The Queen Mother is the one who gets elected by the Royal Council after the King dies. She can have only one son who is expected to marry wives from all walks of Swazi life.

Infrastructure/roads Swaziland has one airport near Manzini but air travel isn’t recommended. Most visitors would fly in at Johannesburg, Nelspruit or Durban and drive in. The main roads are generally in fine condition and allow you to see most of the country rather comfortably. Please note that all border posts close for the evening, most as early as 4 o’clock. |

Climate Swaziland has a tropical to near temperate climate: warm summers with late afternoon, cooling showers (November to March) and dry, moderate winters (April to October). |
