ITINERARY Day 1: Johannesburg On the first morning you can start the tour by exploring the area. There is an optional guided through "Jozi".
Day 2: Soweto After breakfast, you will be collected for the start of your guided tour into Soweto, a former Township, and now a thriving City. For today, you will live the “township” life. You can listen to Kwaito; South Africa's answer to American Hip Hop and visit a local shebeen (informal liquor bar). Visit Soccer City – home to the 2010 World Cup Final, the Hector Peterson Memorial, the homes of Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu, both Nobel peace prize winners and other famous sites. Optional: You can choose to overnight in a Soweto B&B, near the famous sites, with transfer back to Johannesburg in the morning to continue with your journey.
Day 3: Johannesburg – Ermelo Today you leave the former Transvaal and drive to Ermelo in the Mpumulanga Province; you will have time to explore the San Rock Artwork, Paul Kruger Bridge, the Anglo - Boer War Memorial and Le Goya Village - the ruins of a settlement of the area's early inhabitants. Day 4: Ermelo – Swaziland Departing the Ermelo after breakfast, you continue your journey in southerly direction towards the beautiful Kingdom of Swaziland, where you overnight 2 nights Take in the beauty of the surrounding area where in the evening traditional Swazi dancers from nearby villages perform for guests at the lodge. Overnight in Matsamo
Day 5: Matsamo – Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary Today you continue your journey in southerly direction and travel through the Capital of the beautiful kingdom of Swaziland, where you overnight 1 night. After customs you continue to Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary where you will spend the night. Your accommodation will be in traditional grass-dome shaped beehives . Here you can book optional excursions to discover Swaziland: guided chiefs walk, guided game-drive, mountain bike or horse ride via your accommodation.
Day 6 & 7: Mlilwane – Kruger Departing Swaziland, you will head off towards the Numbi Gate bordering the Kruger National Park. Here you overnight in luxurious chalets at FTTSA accredited Phumulani Lodge. Phumulani Lodge is 100% owned by Mduli Trust; an initiative of Chief MZ Mduli’s. Experience Phumulani Lodge; an extension of tribal culture to uplift standards of living of local communities through job creation.
Day 8: Kruger National Park – Phalaborwa Drive over one of South Africa’s most beautiful mountain passes; the Magoebaskloof Pass en route to Phalaborwa, a dream come true for the adventurous soul. Visit the royal Modjadji Rain Queen just outside Tzaneen; go to the Cheetah Breeding Project and the Reptile Park in Hoedspruit or take the Panorama Route all the way to the Blyde River Canyon passing the Bourkes Luck Pothole, God’s Window and Pilgrims Rest. Or enter Kruger again through the Phalaborwa Gate where organised day and night safaris, including the popular bush braai (bbq), are offered daily. Overnight Phalaborwa.
Day 9: Phalaborwa Kick start the day with a delectable South African breakfast by the thatched lapa or privately in the back garden with birds chirping in the background.
Day 10: Phalaborwa – Louis Trichardt Today you drive to Louis Trichardt situated in a tropical area surrounded by scenic splendour. Here you go on a guided local artist tour; you visit small villages in the surrounding. Get to know the Venda and Shangaan culture, famous for their multi culture arts and crafts. Overnight Louis Trichardt.
Day 11: Louis Trichardt – Johannesburg After breakfast you depart Louis Trichardt and drive back to Johannesburg International Airport. Remember this is just a sample itinerary and it can be fully customised by you.
