Population
There are about  21.4 million people in Mozambique.There is a wide variety of Bantu speaking tribes living in Mozambique but Portuguese is the lingua franca as an official language. Most people also speak proficient English. It is taught at schools as a second or third language.

The best time to visit is May-October, when the days are warm and the nights somewhat cooler (often requiring a sweater). The rest of the year it's warmer and rainier (though it generally doesn't rain hard or long enough to ruin a trip). Temperatures in the mountainous west are on average 5 degrees Celsius (5F) lower. Precipitation is higher along the coast.

DID YOU KNOW?
The name Mozambique is derived from that of a sultan, Muca Alebique. When Portuguese explorers first reached East Africa by the end of the 15th century, there were already well established trade routes with the Arab world.
